What is the hourly rate for psychological services?

  • The rate for all psychological services is $225.00 per hour
  • There is no HST billed on direct services provided by registered psychologists in Ontario

Do you need a referral to the clinic?

  • Referrals can be initiated by the child, parent(s) and/or family member(s) to begin psychological services
  • However, it is recommended that you speak with your insurance company to determine whether a physician’s referral is required prior to accessing these benefits

Are psychological services covered by OHIP?

  • Unfortunately, fees for psychological services are not covered by OHIP but many extended healthcare packages offer partial or full coverage for these benefits (please consult with your insurance company to determine your specific plan coverage) 
  • Some employers also have Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to assist with mental health needs (please inquire with your employer regarding the availability of such services) 
  • Any psychological services not covered by an extended health benefits package may be claimed as a medical expense on one’s income tax

What forms of payment are available?

  • Fees are made payable by e-Transfer, credit, card, cash, or cheque at the end of each session
  • Clients are issued receipts upon confirmation of payment which may be submitted to insurers for reimbursement or used for income tax purposes
  • It is recommended that e-Transfers are provided 24 hours in advance to ensure that payment is confirmed and a receipt can be issued at the end of each session

How does the clinic ensure confidentiality and privacy?

  • Any information collected is strictly CONFIDENTIAL and adheres to the privacy legislation stipulated by the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and regulations set by the College of Psychologists of Ontario
  • Information gathered is limited to what is needed to provide psychological services to clients 
  • Client records are collected and managed using an encrypted and secure practice management system and paper files are securely stored in locked cabinets within a locked office space
  • All files are routinely backed up to ensure the privacy and protection of sensitive client information
  • Personal health information will not be shared with others outside the clinic unless written consent is provided or in rare circumstances in which limiting confidentiality is mandated by the law or college regulations

What is the cancellation policy at the clinic?

  • Sessions that are cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a charge for that session equivalent to the regular fee for time
  • Late arrivals will be charged at the set rate for the entire scheduled appointment time
  • Any session for which you are more than 20 minutes late will be considered a missed session
